What do you attach after the words ‘I am?’
Who do you want to be? Words are powerful. Think about the words that you attach to the words ‘I am,’ do they serve to empower or disempower you? Do you like the way that the words define you? Do you feel strong and confident when you are saying these words? Or do you feel scared and uncertain? Do you feel differently when you speak your words vs. having them run around in your head?
I was led to believe that words “don’t matter” until I experienced a series of events that were happening around me. I started noticing and really listening to the effect that words have and started realizing that they do matter, whether we are aware of it or not. The words you speak are important because you are the one who hears what you are saying the most! Be sure to surround yourself with people who lift you up and encourage you.
I love Henry Ford’s quote:
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t –you’re right.” — Henry Ford
Thanks to this blog for sharing your insight. I loved seeing this reminder again:
“The words `I am…’ are potent words; be careful what you hitch them to.
The thing you’re claiming has a way of reaching back and claiming you.”
A. K. Kitselman
