Checking in with yourself

How often do you check in with yourself during the day?

As I was clearing out a clogged sink, a thought popped up.

Cleaning a clogged sink is an analogy to remind me to clean the thoughts that no longer serve. It’s also a reminder that sinks need to be cleaned and maintained.

As I cleaned the parts that were really deep, I considered the thoughts within my unconscious mind. What are the thoughts that are deep within that I need to clean out? How can I ‘clean’ my thoughts so that they are updated and checked out?

Thoughts are not always real, so it’s good to check in and ask if they are real. It’s not easy when the ‘busyness’ of the day takes over, so taking some conscious time to check in helps with connecting to how you truly feel.

Thoughts that may have served their purpose may not be useful now.
