How To Work With A Career Coach

Here are some questions to answer if you’re looking to understand more about Career and Mindset Coaching:

What do I ask a career coach?

Consider the thoughts you go through in your day and think about the challenges you have in your job/career.

What are your points of frustration? What are things that you hold onto and cannot resolve? Giving a coach your story helps with understanding your perspective and where you are coming from.

2. What do I talk about with a career coach?

Consider the areas that you want to improve and work through in your career. If you’re navigating through a career change on your own and don’t know where to start, talk about your vision for your career. If you don’t know your vision, talk to someone to help you gain more clarity.

Consider patterns and habits that you’ve gone through in your career where you keep getting the same undesired result. Perhaps you keep taking jobs that you hate and can’t see a path for yourself. Talk to someone to help you gain perspective.

3. What questions do I ask a career coach?

Consider the burning questions you have that you want to find answers to. Samples of questions can include:

What are my limiting beliefs and emotions? How do I let go of the charge of these limiting beliefs and emotions?

How do I take responsibility for my career?

How do I execute what I really want to do with my career?

4. What is the role of a career coach?

To help, support, and guide you to find answers to your challenges. Coaches support you and ask questions to help you find the answers within yourself. You do the work by showing up and doing what it takes to be fully committed to the process. Coaches are also valuable to keep you accountable for your goals, this is key to getting you where you want to be.
