3 simple ideas to keep going when life is just too much
Have you ever been in the mindset of feeling scattered, overwhelmed and unfocused?
When one more thing just seems like ‘too much.’
When the requests just feel heavy and require more mental energy because you already have so much on your plate. You may feel like your ‘cup’ is overflowing and you don’t know what to do.
When you’re unable to focus because your mind is on the next to-do or your mind is focused on the things that you haven’t done and need to do.
Do your best to do one thing at a time.
Do one thing at a time.
Go slower if you need to and take breaks. Give yourself a mental break and say something nice to yourself. Yes, say something nice about yourself — give it a go right now.
Some things may not be done in your timeframe and you’re going to have to be ok with letting that go.
Even if it means that you’re doing things slower, you may notice more focus in just doing one thing with all of your focus instead of feeling scattered.
Here are 3 ideas to keep going when things just feel like they are too much.
Take a mental break. Can you practice more grounding exercises to stay present and in your own body? Taking a moment to ground (outside on grass, if possible) or taking deep breaths can help when things feel overwhelming.
Let something go. Is there something that you can let go of to give you a greater feeling of ease? Perhaps you have a few more unread emails that you can respond to when you have more focus and clarity or you have to reschedule some calls/meetings. Can you let go of the need to keep within your own timings and let go of something? If your mind feels exhausted, can you give yourself some grace to do things that seemingly feel like a waste of time (ie. scrolling)?
Focus on feelings of joy. What activities or things bring you joy? Can you find some time to do things that bring you joy during your day? Give yourself permission to find things that feel good for you and if you don’t know what that feels like, give yourself permission to find out what joy means to you. It can be as simple as a daily walk to give yourself the time and space to just be yourself without worrying about the responsibilities of life. Can you find a new place to walk and explore? Can you try a new coffee/tea shop to give you some newfound inspiration? How can you break up your daily habits so that you can greater tap into your curiousity and wonder?
Showing up for yourself isn’t always easy. You may be smiling on the outside, though deep down inside, you may be going through inner chaos and sadness. You just don’t know what you don’t know by seeing the surface, so be courageous enough to acknowledge how you truly feel and do your best to navigate through it one moment at a time.
