Trust and decision-making

Do you find that old patterns of habit stop you from truly trusting yourself?

Or do you find that you’re running the same pattern/habit over and over without realizing it?

Trusting ourselves can be challenging if we’ve experienced disappointments and setbacks. We learn to doubt ourselves when things don’t turn out the way we expected. The nagging inner voice within us whispers and reminds us of all our mistakes and as a result, we don’t take the action that we need to take, we build fear within and wonder whether we can really do it.

Our failures feel like they define us. They can stop us from changing jobs, and careers, speaking our truth, and opening companies. We remember all the times that we’ve failed instead of remembering all the progress that we’ve made. Our perspective is focused on all the things that we couldn’t do and haven’t done instead of remembering how much we have learned and improved.

Seeing things differently takes a lot of inner work. When you are feeling ‘fight or flight,’ it’s challenging to shift perspectives. You are running a pattern that you may not even be aware of and reacting out of old patterns that may not serve you anymore. They may have served you well before and now that you are who you are now, the patterns may not serve you now. Taking a closer look to do the introspective work takes a lot of courage, patience and perseverance.

Remember that when you heal yourself, you are also helping others heal. Sharing your struggles may not be easy, though it is likely that someone else is going through what you’re going through. Your stories can inspire and uplift others who may be silently struggling and not sure what to do.

We just have to keep showing up and doing the work one step (micro-step at a time). We can’t expect others to change (as challenging as this feels), we have to do the work within to trust ourselves and build ourselves up.

We also have to let go. Let go of the things that do not serve us anymore. Let go of the hold that we have on negative beliefs and emotions and come back to who we truly are. It’s a constant work in progress, so don’t worry if you feel like you’re not ‘there yet.’

Remind yourself to let go and forgive yourself more. Remind yourself to remember and see how far you’ve come. It’s not easy at times, though it will be worth it, as you are investing in a better version of yourself in which you reap all the benefits.
