Job expectations?

There’s so much that goes into having a ‘good’ job and career.

There are so many expectations placed on yourself that can create more stress/fear/anxiety.

You may be in a situation where you feel pressured to earn more money because that’s what you’re supposed to do. You may have people telling you that you’re not earning enough and need to earn more money. So the pressure builds and you may be stressed because you work in a job that’s physically and/or mentally demanding and your body can’t take it anymore. You may want to take a break and you may not be able to because you have people telling you that you have to keep working. It becomes your identity to make money and somewhere along the way, you’re not sure what you want anymore. You just keep going round and round in circles, hoping that the ‘right’ job will come.

Or you may be in a situation where you’re doing work that’s not billable or serving as a caretaker. You may feel the pressure to keep going so that maybe one day, you’ll get the recognition that you deserve. In the meantime, you may be feeling the rising costs of inflation and with only 24 hours in a day, you may be struggling to just make it through the day. You have so many competing demands and requests and you are just one person and cannot do it all.

If you resonate with the above, do your best to listen to your own voice within. Find the pockets of peace by connecting with yourself and allowing yourself to really hear what you’re saying to yourself. Remind yourself what you really need and honour your inner voices and your inner child.

It’s challenging to take care of someone else when you can’t take care of yourself first.
